Tuesday 29th April 2025 - Priest Visit
Today we were lucky to host Matt and Mollie from Bay Church, who led assemblies for all the children. They taught us about the true meaning of Easter, Jesus's death and resurrection, and his Ascension into Heaven. They also discussed the Good News that Jesus and his disciples spread about how to live and talked about the word of God being like a light that shines to light the way for all, and we shouldn't hide the light. The children enjoyed sharing their 'good news' with Matt and Mollie, listening to their stories and watching the video and we look forward to them joining us again soon.

Friday 14th March 2025 - DT
Today we had so much fun making our own dens. Firstly, we thought about how to create a structure that is stable and strong and decided that a square-based pyramid design would work best. We designed our dens and thought about what materials to use. Then, we worked in groups to build a den structure out of wooden rods and secured the base with masking tape and string. We then used a plastic bag to waterproof our designs and decorated with dry leaves to make them camouflage.

February 2025 - Computing
This half term, we have been learning how to take the perfect photograph. We have learnt that subjects that are tall need to be taken in portrait form and subjects that are wide need to be taken on portrait form. We have also learnt that the subject needs to be in the middle of the frame for the photo to look effective. Finally, we have been editing photographs using a photo editing app. We have been altering the colour of photos - some of our creations were extremely creative!
Monday 24th February 2025 - Music
Today, Sonopera’s Kip Pratt and Elfyn Jones visited White Rock to perform some music. Their performance showcased a diverse range of instruments - piano, violin, ukulele, and drums - and musical styles from Ireland and Eastern Europe. We started by singing a song about the months to warm up our voices, followed by learning a song about a penguin. We had lots of fun putting some actions to the words and working together to find the beat of the music.
Wednesday 5th February 2025
This week in Science, we did an investigation to answer the enquiry question: Why do birds have different shaped beaks?
We thought about what birds eat and represented this with different foods e.g. seeds = smarties, bugs = gummy bears, and worms = strawberry laces. We used a spoon, tweezers and chopsticks to represent different bird beaks and tried to pick up the different foods using the different objects. We recorded our data in our books and have since thought about what our data tells us about different shaped bird beaks.
Tuesday 28th January 2025 - Dance
This term, we have been creating dances about space. We have created rockets in groups which have then taken off into space and landed on a planet of our own choice. Once landed, we have moved using different levels and speeds to show what our planet is and then today, we added in running away from the aliens and hiding.

We learnt how to cut up our fruit safely and slide it onto our bamboo skewer. Finally, we evaluated our fruit kebabs to think about what went well and what we would do differently next time. We will now use this to help us write instructions about how to make a fruit kebab. Check out our pictures!
