Our school is taking part in an initiative that will run jointly between schools and Devon and Cornwall Police known as Operation Encompass. The main focus is to support children who have been exposed to, or involved in, a domestic abuse incident.
Operation Encompass will begin on 1st December 2017 and is the reporting to schools, prior to the next school day, when a child has been exposed to, or involved in, a domestic incident.
Operation Encompass ensures that at least one member of the school staff, know as a Key Adult, is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support children. The Key Adults in our school are Mrs Tomkinson, Mrs Jarrett and Mrs French. Once the police have contacted us we will ensure that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.
