WELCOME TO YEAR 2 CORMORANTS

Cormorants are medium sized coastal birds who thrive in their environment by working in teams, just like one of our school values, teamwork. Cormorants can often be found diving in to the water simultaneously. Just like the bird, in Cormorants class we can be found diving into our learning together and using our skills in teamwork to thrive successfully together.

Tuesday 21st October 2025 - African Dance

We were so lucky to be one of the year groups that had the fantastic opportunity to take part in an African Dance workshop, led by two people from West Africa (one was from Ghana and the other from Ivory Coast). They taught us some traditional African dances and an African song. While teaching us the dance, they also explained the story of the dance which was fascinating! We all had a great time dancing and enjoyed learning about African culture as well.

Friday 17th October 2025 - Writing

This week in Writing, the children have been exploring a new text called "This Is How We Do It." In the text the children have been exploring the lives of seven children across the globe. We have been comparing how similar or different their lives are to our own. We then used hot seating to ask each other questions to find out more about each other, such as who we live with or how we get to school.

Tuesday 14th October 2025 - PE

This half term year 2 have been working with Niall Leahy, a community cricket coach. They have been practising their bowling, batting and fielding skills, working in small teams. The children have really enjoyed these sessions, well done year 2!

Friday 3rd October 2025 - History

This week in History, the children have been learning about the Victorians. They have observed what school was like for Victorian children and compared this to how school is now. The children agreed they prefer school in the present day! They have also learned a song about Victorian schools. Here are some snapshots of the children performing the actions to the song.

Friday 26th September 2025 - Music

This week in school, the children have been exploring different elements of music. They have used their voices, body percussion and drums to explore pitch, rhythm and volume. The children have been using musical vocabulary such as forte for loud and piano for quiet. Take a look at some photos below.
