WELCOME TO YEAR 3 ROBINS
Robins are cheerful and friendly birds, well known for their distinctive colouring and beautiful song. These colourful characters are lively and outgoing, and will brighten anyone's day. Although small in stature, they are daring and adventurous, and use their inquisitive nature to innovate and solve problems. Robins use these skills to work together harmoniously and set their sights high and soaring in the sky.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2026/2027
AUTUMN TERM
Autumn Term Curriculum Map

Friday 16th October 2026 - PSHE
This week in PSHE, we have been learning about different emotions and how to manage them. We then drew some faces that represented different emotions and wrote about what we do when we experience them.
Thursday 1st October 2026 - Science
In Science, we have been learning about the human skeleton. This week, we learned the names of some parts of the skeleton. We learned new vocabulary like rib cage, spine, radius, ulna and tibia. We then had a go at labelling these parts on a skeleton. Take a look below!
Wednesday 30th September 2026 - Drumba
We have been really enjoying our Drumba lessons in Year 3. We have been working on playing the drums and moving in time with the music. As well as this, we are also learning to blend the rudiments together. Rudiments in Drumba are the drumming techniques we use, which are singles, doubles, triples, flams and paradiddles.
Friday 25th September 2026 - History
This week in History we have been introduced to our new unit of learning - The Stone Age to the Iron Age. We learned that 'prehistory' refers to the time before a written language was used. There are no written records of the prehistoric era as humans did not have pens or paper! We then used our historical thinking skills to create a timeline.
Wednesday 16th September 2026 - PE
Year 3 have been enjoying their team building lessons in PE this half term. They are developing their communication skills, understanding how they can work successfully as a team.
Friday 11th September 2026 – Our first week in Year 3
This week we have been enjoying our first week in Year 3! We have been learning our new routines and working hard in all of our learning. In Writing, we have began reading our new class text, The BFG and in Maths, we have been thinking about number facts. We have also had our first PE, Dance and Spanish lesson of the year! See some photos of us enjoying our learning below:
Monday 7th September 2026 – English – The BFG
As we begin the new year, and a new term, our English learning – both Reading and Writing - will be based on the book ‘The BFG by Roald Dahl’.

This week, we will begin immersing ourselves in the story of Sophie and her adventures with the Big Friendly Giant. We will be reading the first two chapters together. Everyone in class will have their own copy of the text. We will be using our tracking skills to follow the words and read along with the text.
