Below is a list of key dates and information based on your child's transition to school:
New Parents/Carers Welcome Meeting
Wednesday 20th May, 6.30pm - 7:30pm
This meeting is for parents and carers only and provides an opportunity for us to share the principles that guide our Early Years practice and provision. It will also give you time to ask any initial questions you may have and begin building a positive partnership as your child starts their school journey.
We kindly ask that all parents attend this session. As a lot of important information will be covered, the meeting is not suitable for young children. To help minimise distractions, please attend without children.
In-School Taster Sessions WITH Parents/Carers:
Tuesday 9th June at 9.30am -10.30am OR 1.30pm - 2.30pm
OR
Thursday 11th June at 9.30am -10.30am OR 1.30pm - 2.30pm
We want your child’s first experience of the school environment to be one they share with you and their family. With this in mind, we have arranged for parent/carer and child sessions to be the very first step in your child’s induction to primary school.
These sessions are a vital part of the induction process, giving both you and your child the opportunity to explore the learning environment together, meet the team, and share important information about your child so we can support them as best as possible.
In-School Taster Sessions WITHOUT Parents/Carers:
Thursday 2nd July at 9.30am - 11.30 or 12:30pm - 2:30pm
Children will be invited to spend time in their classroom with their classmates and the staff who will care for and support them, allowing them to experience what coming to school will be like before September.
This is also a key part of the induction process, as it supports your child in beginning their journey towards independence and helps them build confidence within the classroom environment.
Home Visits
Will commence from June
As part of our commitment to working in partnership with parents, we aim for every child to take part in a home visit prior to starting school. Home visits play an important role in supporting a smooth transition and building positive relationships. Parents will be invited to sign up for a home visit at the welcome meeting.
Admissions Discussions with your Child’s Teacher
Monday 29th June / Wednesday 1st July / Friday 3rd July
On Thursday 18th June, you will be sent an email informing you of your child’s class and class teacher. Within this email, there will be a link, allowing you to book a 10-minute meeting with your child’s class teacher to discuss what makes them unique. You can book a time that suits you best.
We hope this gives you a clear overview of what we have planned over the next few months as we approach your child’s entry into school.
